QUARTER 3 REFLECTION
I personally felt as if I have made very big improvements in my writing that I can see, I can say that I have come a long a way, and I’m proud of myself, because I know that there have been times I’ve thought if quitting when it seemed that things got a little bit difficult.
I can truly say that 1st quarter was difficult because I was just starting to explore my writing abilities and options, and haven’t quite mastered the art of writing, and I felt as if I was just getting to know my thoughts, pen and paper, because my Honors class was just an introduction, to what would become my love for A.P Literature. 2nd quarter was a little less tense; I’ve become more familiar with my writing and more comfortable in my writing skills. Wow, 3rd Quarter, I saw major improvements, I took time to gather my thoughts, and took time to put them down on paper. I can say I’ve become a better writing since I’ve been in this class.
There is always room for improvement that is what I believe; I still have to learn to have a little more patience, and take time to properly revise my writing. I honestly don’t think I’m quite read for college level writing.
I don’t feel as if I’m ready to take the A.P exam in May because I’m still not exactly sure of what may or may not be on the test, I think we may need to focus more on what may be on the test.
For the books we’ve read this quarter, I will still say that my favorite book is ‘The Bluest Eye” by Toni Morrison, because that is one of my favorite books, it is easy to read and it goes straight to the point, there isn’t a lot going on.

ANALYSIS
In Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte and Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neal Hurston, Catherin and Janie seems to have a lot in common, they both are victims of passion and love. Catherine was never given an opportunity to show her true self, she was never really allowed to love Heathcliff, Janie was also not allowed to love and know love as she wanted to, because grandmother always seemed to stand in her, she was also forced to marry Logan Killicks just as Catherine was forced to marry Linton, but Janie was given an opportunity to find love on her own, after running to Jody, she found out that the love she thought she knew and wanted wasn’t really what she wanted after all; she finally found a place to lay her heart in the arms of Virgible Woods aka “ Tea Cake”, whom she later lost.
Wuthering Heights was centered on the passionate love of Catherine and Heathcliff. When all is said and done, Heathcliff and Catherine are the story. Their love started as a youth and Catherine loves Heathcliff but she could never lower her self to his standards. Catherine Earnshaw is the dominant female spirit which prevails the novel. She is a character dominated by obsession and her single greatest obsession is her love for Heathcliff. It is this which controls her life and gives a sense of meaning, purpose and direction to her existence. Catherine and Heathcliff’s misfortunes, recklessness, willpower, and destructive passion are unable to penetrate the eternal love they share. Throughout Wuthering Heights, Heathcliff's personality could be defined as dark, menacing, and brooding. He is a dangerous character, with rapidly changing moods, capable of deep-seeded hatred, and incapable, it seems, of any kind of forgiveness or compromise. Janie is a user of metaphor. As a girl, she figures her life as a “tree in bloom.” Dreaming of a man who will be “bee to her blossom,” Janie rejects bourgeois marriage as an ideal. After Joe Starks's death frees her to dream again, she dreams of journeying to the horizon in search of people. She realizes both dreams through Tea Cake. Janie spent her days looking for love. She thought of love just as she thought of the elements of springtime: Sunny days, bright skies, a bee pollinating pear tree blossoms. She searched far and wide for this kind of perfect love. Janie searched for the special love that she saw between the bee and the bloom for a long time. She finally found it in Tea Cake, but had to kill him. Killing him was probably the biggest act of love made in her whole life.

Janie’s Search
Janie's search for identity actually started long before she was born.Because Janie's search is
her family's search. Nanny and Janie's mother gave Janiea reason to search. Even as a young
girl, living in the materialistic world of her Nanny and her first husband, Logan Killicks, Janie
chooses to listen to "the words of thetrees and the wind" (23-24). This is the first evidence of her
searching beyondher boring life. This then leads to her everyday life left empty, because she
isalways looking farther than where she is at the time. So day by day, she ismore worked up into
leaving Logan, and searching for love. When she leaves Loganto run off with Joe, she thinks to
herself, "Her old thoughts were going to comein handy now, but new words would have to be
made and said to fit them" (31).
Joe aims to be a big voice and that is why he comes to Eatonville, Florida. He feels that
he will have a better chance at being a big voice in an all black town than in a white man's town.
The problem is that he has adopted white man's values and forces them upon the townspeople
and, most notably, upon his wife Janie. This relationship was just another setback in Janie's epic
search. Nevertheless, when her marriage to Joe collapses, she again decides, "So new thoughts
had to be thought and new words said" (77).
Her search seemed very close to a peaceful end. However, it was far from
over, when Tea Cake became sick after being bitten by a with rabbis. Janie's search for an
Identity for herself, free of the ideas she had grown up with, ties into bigger
Issues, important for her race as a whole. Nanny's vision of Janie's care free life on a
Porch somewhere is associated with being white. Janie's straight hair becomes tied up
